Childhood Development Services, Inc. is proud to introduce you to "The Hands Of Men" Male Involvement group for Marion and Citrus counties. The Hands Of Men (THOM) male involvement group for both Marion and Citrus counties meet weekly, providing a unique opportunity for men to come together and discuss issues, concerns and ideas that can enhance our development as strong fathers, better husbands and most of all responsible men.
We cover many parenting issues that affect our relationships with children, wives, friends and others who are close to us. We also sponsor special activitiessuch as cookouts, movie nights, classroom read-ins and much more. We volunteer in the classrooms to help share in the growth, development and education of our children. We work to build a stronger bridge of communication with the children and families of the Head Start/Early Head Start program.
We publish a bi-monthly newsletter with all kinds of great information about our program, current projects/activities, health tips and much, much more!

The Childhood Development Services Head Start Program was awarded a special Youth Mentoring Grant. This grant allows The Hands Of Men to work with young teenage siblings of the Head Start children, ages 12 to 17.
Our goal is to develop them to become mentors to the Head Start Children by providing computer training skills and knowledge of the programs used in the classrooms. We are also teaching our young mentors how to become storytellers which gives them a distinctive advantage and opportunity to increase their literacy skills and their understanding of what it takes to go in the classrooms as a volunteer.
If you are interested in joining The Hands Of Men group please call Maurice Lewis at (352)629-0055 x313.
