The Training and Professional Development Program is a unit within Childhood Development Services, Inc., a non-profit organization, which is devoted to promoting quality continuing education opportunities for professional development.
The Training and Professional Development Program is excited to offer business, industry, agency and organizations the opportunity to have their training assessed and approved for Continuing Education Units (CEU).

Childhood Development Services, Inc. has been reviewed and approved as an Authorized Provider of Continuing Education Units by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), based in Washington, D.C.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Continuing Education Unit (CEU)?
The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a nationally recognized unit of measurement for noncredit continuing education programs. It is designed to document learning experiences that are valid in their own right, but differ from experiences for which academic credits are traditionally awarded.
One CEU is defined as representing ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.
How Do Programs Qualify for CEUs?
For a program to qualify for approval of CEU’s at Childhood Development Services, Inc., the request must include evidence of the following.
The program is responsive to an educational need of a specific target audience.
A statement of objectives has been formulated.
Qualified instructors have been found.
The instructional content has been organized to meet the objectives.
Time requirements have been established.
Evaluative tools and paperwork provided by Childhood Development Services, Inc. will be employed.
What Programs Are Eligible to Award CEU’s?
Programs eligible for CEU’s include, but are not limited to, the following:
continuing education programs for professionals, e.g., doctors, nurses, lawyers, engineers, teachers
in-service training programs for specific target populations
license renewal programs, seminars, workshops, or short courses for the general public
paraprofessional training programs
certificate programs
Acceptance of CEU’s by Professional Organizations
Many professional organizations require that their members earn continuing education units in order to maintain certification or some other designation. Program qualification and eligibility for CEU’s does not guarantee that all professional organizations will accept a workshop toward its CEU requirements.
